At some point over the last few months I built and installed these mantels. They are both corner fireplaces one in the master bathroom and one in the master bedroom. I still have two more to make for the great room and basement family rooms.
I used Western Cedar milled from some of the leftover logs that we used for the building. I hewed them with my old log building axe and then aged them with a propane torch and some aging solution. I think they turned out pretty good.
