This is the same face as the last blog post only using a pallet of colors and a brush. I avoided using black on this one just relying on the darkest value I could muster up with the yellow, rad and turquoise that I have on the pallet. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
Working with just a pallet knife this time. Probably could use a little smaller knife for this size of a painting but I figured I would give it a shot. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
Still working with a little bit of leftover paint that I mixed together. Using it with a little white and a little black to see what I can figure out with values. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
Trying again for looseness and values and hopefully catching the gesture. This one probably took about 45 minutes. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
I decided it was time to clean off the pallet of the old paint that was not dry yet. I took everything and mixed it all together which resulted in this sort of blue/gray color. I took that and, with white and black, worked on values. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
A tiny gesture painting in oil using just Burnt Sienna, Ivory Black and Titanium White. Clearly a good chunk of my problems lie in working with values. This painting measures 3.5″X4″ https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
I just gave up on this one after a while. Probably took about an hour. It’s surprising how hard it is to hold still for a painting. https://www.johnhuismanart.com/
