The drywall hanging is well underway here now that the electrical and plumbing rough-in is, for the most part, completed. Here are some shots of the drywall being installed around the timber frame structure:

In some of the above shots you can also see the loft floor has been installed. In this particular home, the loft floor is a simple one layer floor consisting of 2×6 tongue and groove decking installed with the “V”-groove down so that the underside becomes the ceiling and the flat side on top becomes the floor of the loft. Here are a couple pictures where you can see it from the top side and the bottom:

At the top of the stars to the loft, the only place for switches is to cut them into a large timber post:

We had 20 degrees below zero again this morning. I hope that is the last of that sort of thing.
But the sun is strong and it warmed up fast. High in the 20s.
The dirt roads are beginning to show where the sun hits them but there is still at least a couple feet deep snow in the woods and, more ominously, on the baseball field…
I think spring will come… eventually.
