January 12th 2019 Art Works Figure drawing

After worrying that we were not going to have enough people signing up for the winter sessions we ended up with a record turnout, I heard someone say there were 14 artists there. Lots of folks I never saw before. Very cool.

I am still working away at this trying learn to see and express gesture and proportions and anatomy. It is hard. As usual, I am not real happy with how my sketches turned out but I figured I would post them here anyway. Part of the journaling process.

We had another great model, very professional and good poses. We started with 1 minute for a few then 5 minutes, then a couple 10s and finished up with a few 20 minute poses. Here are my humble attempts. I started off on large newsprint with 6b or 8b pencils. (I find charcoal just too messy). The last couple I went over with an ink pen after a light sketch with pencil.
